Carbon Removals for Timber Construction
Climate Finance for Timber Buildings and Forest Climate Services
Timber construction as an innovative and scalable carbon sink in the building sector
Timber is by far the most efficient building material for carbon storage — yet it is currently used in only about 1% of urban, multi-story buildings. The main reasons are economic barriers and a lack of incentives.
Timber Carbon works with real estate developers, timber construction companies, and forest managers to store carbon long-term in buildings. We convert this carbon storage into high-quality, ICROA-compliant Carbon Removal Credits, enabling companies with ambitious climate targets to access durable carbon removals.
Since 2022, we have been pioneers in developing the first methodology for timber buildings under the Verra standard, endorsed by ICROA. In parallel, we certify innovative building projects and implement forest climate services together with our partners in forestry.

Project Portfolio
Our certification portfolio is now online.
For CDR Buyers
Our ICROA-compliant Carbon Removal Credits provide investors with access to high-quality Carbon Removals from the building sector. The credits meet the highest quality and transparency standards and make a measurable contribution toward achieving net-zero targets.
For Developers
We certify the additional carbon storage achieved through timber buildings and issue high-quality Carbon Removal Credits for the voluntary carbon market.
For Forest Managers
Our forest projects increase forest resilience and secure long-term timber availability. Forest owners and managers benefit directly from the revenue generated by selling Carbon Removal Credits and receive compensation for their climate impact.
For Research Partners
Our methodology is the world’s first ICROA-compliant methodology for timber construction and provides the scientific foundation for certifying carbon storage performance. In addition, Timber Carbon actively contributes to research groups to help shape the further development of carbon removal standards at the intersection of timber construction and sustainable forest management.
