About the project

The warehouse at Benkert's new Hassfurt campus is a showpiece of engineered timber: sixteen glulam trusses — each around 40 metres long, nearly three metres high and up to twelve tonnes — travelled 460 kilometres by heavy transport to span the hall without a single interior column.

The roughly 6,000-square-metre building gives the green-roof specialist completely flexible storage and logistics space, with wood sourced from Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic — topped, naturally, by a green roof.

Completed by the end of 2026 alongside the new office building, the hall demonstrates that even large-span industrial buildings can swap steel for wood, storing carbon in the process.
