About the project

Im Fichtäwinkel is a small three-storey apartment building on a hillside plot at Kemptnerstrasse in Hinwil, Zurich Oberland — village-scale densification done with unusual construction ambition.

Above a concrete base, the storeys are built in cross-laminated timber using TS3 technology, a Swiss innovation that casts the panel joints into seamless, point-supported floor slabs. The façade is clad in traditional wooden shingles, giving the modern structure a warm, regional face.

Under construction until 2026, the project shows that even a compact residential infill can push timber engineering forward — and store forest carbon in every floor and wall.
