About the project

Lärchenhof is a multi-generation housing development in Goldegg, Salzburg: 51 apartments across four buildings, ranging from barrier-free flats to condominiums, complemented by a childcare facility, a community room and a shared space for therapy and medical services.

The walls use a glue-free solid-wood system joined with aluminium pins instead of adhesives, leaving the PEFC-certified spruce untreated. The timber was processed within the developer's own regional sawmill group, keeping the supply chain remarkably short.

Completed in 2024 and heated by a shared biomass system with rooftop solar, the estate steps down its hillside site and brings young and old together around common ground — a village within a village, with Austrian forest carbon locked into every wall.
