About the project
Baufritz, the Allgäu firm that has pioneered ecological prefabricated timber building since 1896, has added a new order-picking warehouse at its Erkheim headquarters — applying its healthy-building philosophy to its own logistics.
The two-storey building was raised in the company's prefabricated timber-panel construction with wood from German and Austrian forests, continuing a site where practically everything is made of wood. Function, design and future-readiness were the guiding principles.
Completed in 2025, the warehouse demonstrates that even back-of-house industrial buildings deserve — and reward — proper timber architecture: intelligent working environments that store forest carbon for decades, certified under the Rainbow Standard.
