About the project

In Lungern, Obwalden, one of Switzerland's glulam pioneers — a company renowned for record-breaking timber spans — has built its own new production and logistics hall, naturally in wood.

The hall houses a fully automated timber warehouse and joinery machinery behind columns up to 16 metres tall, founded on 163 piles driven into the soft valley floor. Around 1,400 cubic metres of predominantly Swiss timber went into the structure, processed with the company's own engineering expertise.

Completed in 2024, in the firm's fortieth year, the building is both a working factory and a statement: the future of construction is built in wood, and certified under the Rainbow Standard.
