About the project
This new residential quarter in Immendingen, Baden-Württemberg, comprises 99 apartments in nine buildings — the first complete neighbourhood by timber-construction pioneer GROPYUS, built in serial timber-hybrid system construction.
Load-bearing walls, floors and even the lift shafts are timber; concrete is used only where structurally unavoidable, and the buildings need no concrete cores at all. Elements arrive fully prefabricated — down to complete bathroom modules — from the company's own factory, using PEFC-certified wood from Germany, Austria and Finland.
Heated by geothermal energy and rooftop solar, the quarter meets the KfW Efficiency House 40 EE standard and targets QNG-Plus certification — affordable serial housing that doubles as a long-term carbon sink.
