About the project

BERN 131 is a six-storey office building at the gateway to Bern's Wankdorf district, developed by Swiss Prime Site with around 13,000 square metres of flexible workspace.

The hybrid structure combines prefabricated timber elements with timber-concrete composite floors, erected at a pace of some 600 square metres of floor per week. The timber is 100 percent Swiss — around 98 percent of it from the forests of Canton Bern — and the logistics hall that previously occupied the site was carefully deconstructed and rebuilt elsewhere in the canton.

Certified to SNBS Gold, with photovoltaics on roof and façade, BERN 131 locks regional forest carbon into a landmark workplace for decades.
