About the project
This 71-metre mixed-use building is the heart of the Blättler timber campus in Affeltrangen, Thurgau — a former sawmill site transformed since 1999 into one of eastern Switzerland's most complete timber-construction parks.
Erected by the third-generation family firm in its own timber system, prefabricated metres from where it now stands, the building combines apartments, offices, commercial space and the company canteen. The campus runs on a 900-kW wood-chip heating plant and a rooftop solar array powering the equivalent of 500 households.
Occupied since early 2025, the building is the company's built business card — everyday mixed-use architecture as a long-term carbon store, certified under the Rainbow Standard.
