About the project

FairWerk Nordpark Dresden brings the craft economy back into the city: a commercial courtyard of 21 two-storey units for tradespeople, start-ups and small manufacturers, close to Dresden's chip factories and technical university.

The five halls are erected in modular timber construction, prefabricated by a Saxon timber builder an hour from the site — regional value creation on a site with history: part of Dresden's old military-industrial belt, its legacy contamination remediated with public support before construction began.

Topped with photovoltaics and completed in 2026, the project shows that robust, affordable commercial space can be built in wood — working buildings that double as a long-term carbon sink, certified under the Rainbow Standard.
