About the project

Gändli is an ensemble of four timber buildings on a hillside at the edge of the forest in Attinghausen, Uri — with the village cable car passing directly over the plot.

The buildings use the Holz100 system: cross-layered boards joined purely mechanically with wooden dowels — no glue, no metal, 100 percent wood, harvested in tune with the lunar cycle in the Thoma tradition. Walls of solid timber provide natural insulation, fire resistance and a healthy indoor climate.

Handed over from late 2025, Gändli brings mountain-village living into some of the purest solid-timber construction available — wood from Alpine forests, storing its carbon exactly where it grew.
