About the project

This residential project in Berlin-Reinickendorf converts a commercial plot on Gotthardstrasse into urgently needed housing — around eight storeys of apartments in timber-module construction with solid stacked-timber floors.

Prefabricated wooden modules allow fast, quiet assembly with minimal disruption in the dense urban setting, while the timber structure locks away carbon for the building's lifetime. The project uses certified wood throughout.

It rises in Berlin's north-west, where the city is concentrating its timber-construction ambitions around the former Tegel airfield — among Europe's largest planned timber districts. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the building will turn commercial land into climate-positive homes, certified under the Rainbow Standard.
