About the project
The Hargassner Service Center in Weng im Innkreis includes Austria's first parking garage built entirely in solid timber — 500 spaces on ten split levels, and the largest timber parking structure in Central Europe.
Sixteen-metre glulam beams create completely column-free decks wrapped in an untreated larch façade; only the stair cores are concrete. The 2,600 cubic metres of PEFC-certified Austrian timber grow back in the country's forests in roughly 45 minutes.
Opened in 2024 as part of the heating manufacturer's new campus and crowned with a 500-kilowatt solar roof, the building won Gold at the Upper Austrian Timber Construction Award 2025 — infrastructure that stores carbon instead of emitting it.
