About the project
The Timber Town headquarters anchors the transformation of Dorfen's former Meindl brickworks — where bricks were fired for over a century — into a timber-built commercial quarter with thousands of square metres of workspace.
Above a concrete base, the building is carried by a skeleton of beech engineered timber with prefabricated wall elements; its façade of ceramics and timber lamellas showcases the materials of the companies working inside. A neighbouring module factory even reuses the old brickworks' concrete columns.
Housing offices, a showroom, production and a rooftop restaurant since 2024, the KfW-40-Plus building turns industrial heritage into a working demonstration of the timber economy — and a durable carbon store, certified under the Rainbow Standard.
